What is Family Child Care?
Family child care is care that is provided in a private residence and offers the intimacy and familiarity of a home environment.

Family child care providers participating in the CCIP have access to a variety of services to support them in offering quality child care services to children:

• Regular home visits by CCIP network coordinators
• Monthly training and meetings
• Group field trips and parent engagement activities
• Stipends to purchase supplies, equipment and materials
• Education stipends to meet professional development goals
• Access to children's mental health and developmental disabilities specialists and services

The benefits of using the services of a CCIP provider include:

Home-Like Setting - Family child care can include more personal attention, home cooked meals, and the opportunity for siblings to not be segregated by age.

Convenience - CCIP child care providers are located near your home or work.

Flexibility - Some child care providers are able to accommodate special needs of working parents such as nontraditional work hours or weekend jobs.

Affordability - Family child care tends to be less expensive than center-based programs. Parents may have access to limited CCIP subsidies to assist with child care tuition.

Community - CCIP child care providers offer families opportunities to meet at field trips and special events such as holiday parties and summer picnics. CCIP also offers educational opportunities on topics such as parenting skills and advocacy activities that help raise awareness of the importance of early childhood education.

Peace of Mind - All CCIP child care providers receive regular support, technical assistance, and training to help them provide stable, safe, and nurturing environments for children. Plus, CCIP administers an annual evaluation process that utilizes a nationally recognized rating scale for all providers that receive referrals from the agency.

Feedback - To help guarantee parent satisfaction with CCIP child care services, parents are encouraged to fill out an annual evaluation of their provider that CCIP monitors and uses to provide feedback and improve services of providers.

Note: If your children are currently receiving family child care and you are interested in finding out how your provider could become part of a CCIP network, please call 503-524-3245.
